Tonight, as I watch the new PBS documentary on Islamic Art, I will also be thinking about my choices for this week's A&O 5 Faiths Fridays: (1) The assault on Sufi-Islamic religious sites in Africa by Islamic Fundamentalists; (2) The legacy and experience of English painter William Blake; (3) The art of making and wearing sacred apparel for Hasidic Jews during this hot summer; (4) The sounds of impermanence in the Buddhist inspired music of American composer John Cage; and looting of ancient religious artifacts in Honduras being sold right here in the USA.
