INDIANAPOLIS STAR
By Robert King
INDIANA---Indiana Black Expo's Summer Celebration, which revs into high gear this week, is many things: a collection of health fairs, education programs, business networking and entertainment. But it is also an important showpiece -- even a magnet -- in the city's efforts to make Indianapolis a convention destination for major national black organizations with tens of thousands of potential visitors. The fruit of those efforts will be obvious this week with the arrival of 3,000 people attending the meetings of the National Black Catholic Congress. Like the [black] nurses last year, they will be able to conduct their own business while also enjoying some of the enticements of Summer Celebration, which is expected to draw 250,000 people -- the largest event of its kind in the nation.
